The Role
As a Personal Assistant/Legal Secretary, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the solicitors in the Criminal Law Department. In a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift at short notice, your ability to stay organized and adaptable will be key. Your responsibilities will include:
- Administrative Support: Managing diaries, audio typing, scheduling meetings, and ensuring efficient time management for solicitors.
- Document Preparation: Typing, formatting, and proofreading legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Case Management: Assisting with file management, maintaining accurate records, and liaising with clients, courts, police and other third parties.
- Communication: Handling calls, emails, and inquiries, ensuring professional and timely responses.
- Team Coordination: Supporting the team with ad hoc tasks and ensuring operational efficiency.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience: Prior experience as a legal secretary/personal assistant, or in a similar role, ideally in criminal law or a legal environment.
- Organisational Skills: Exceptional multitasking abilities and attention to detail, especially in a fast-paced setting with changing priorities.
- Adaptability: A flexible approach and the ability to thrive under pressure when urgent changes arise.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanour.
- Discretion: Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
- Teamwork: A proactive and supportive approach to working within a team.
