We’re looking for a detail-oriented Billing Assistant to support our Family, Court of Protection, and Mental Health departments in processing legal aid billing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in legal finance procedures, particularly in the context of Legal Aid Agency requirements.
What You’ll Do:

Prepare and submit daily and monthly legal aid bills.

Liaise with our cost draftsperson on high-value and exceptional case claims.

Maintain accurate ledgers and ensure error-free billing records.

Submit controlled work to the Legal Aid Agency electronically.

Ensure compliance with all Legal Aid Agency KPIs and rules.
Who You Are:

You have experience in legal billing, or a strong willingness to learn.

You’re familiar with—or eager to learn about—compliance standards from the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Legal Aid Agency.

You work well both independently and as part of a collaborative finance team.

You’re proactive, accurate, and efficient, with strong IT skills.
Training will be provided, so this role is also suitable for candidates with transferable experience in finance or administration who are looking to build a career in legal billing.
